How to Style A White Christmas Tablescape
Here are a few tricks to creating white Christmas Tablescape that still looks and feels warm and cozy:
Use different shades of white
If you have ever tried to pick out a white paint colour, you are well aware that there are endless shades of white! When creating an all white Christmas tablescape, utilize the various shades of white to create interest and layers to your table. It is best however, to stick to either warm whites (think whites with a yellow undertone) or bright whites (whites with a blue undertone)
Texture
Using a few different textures on your table will create more visual interest and give the tablescape more depth and dimension. No need to go overboard, just a couple of different textures repeated throughout is all you need.
You will notice that even the plates of a nice textural detail on the edge. Using a soft faux fur rug creates that soft, warm and cozy feeling. The detailed cut of the crystal water and wine glasses creates both sparkle and texture!
Add just a touch of colour
Don’t be afraid to add subtle natural colour, such as I did with the wood cake stand and the pine branches.
A touch of silver compliments the white very nicely, and provides a bit of visual texture to the overall look.
And speaking of colour, adding a single pop of festive colour, like these bold red Christmas ornaments, confirms that there is no mistaken that this is a very festive Christmas table!

Where to find white Christmas table decor
Before you purchase anything, shop your home for what you already have and make it work! I often find that after a quick look around my own home I find almost everything I need to create a festive tablescape no matter what the season!
Renting tableware, flatware and glasses is also a great option. No need to store extra “stuff” that you may only use on occasion. It can be very cost effective too!
If you do need to add a few things to your table, I am always for shopping local and supporting small businesses whenever possible, but here are a few links to help you find some of the products (or similar ones) that I used.
Any pure white dinnerware will do. If you enjoy styling tables and do so on a somewhat regular basis, investing in some quality white dinnerware is a must. Mine are from a local business and are called Pinpoint by Red Vanilla.
Crystal stemmed water glasses are always a nice touch, and need not be expensive!
A white faux fur rug makes the perfect backdrop for a winter white tablescape. I have seen them at Ikea, but I purchased mine at a local Home Sense.
You know you are officially an adult when you start to buy cloth napkins instead of paper! And, everyone needs a set of white linen napkins. They are appropriate for every occasion and can be dressed up and embellished to change their look. Not to mention they are sustainable and can be used over and over again!
This wood cake stand with the white detail on the top was a birthday gift from my daughter. This wood cake stand with the white wood beaded edge is pretty, and just the right blend of white and natural wood.
The little white glass snowman is a Christmas ornament that I purchased from Pottery Barn many years ago. The red ornaments are also from my ornament stash!
Basic brushed silver flatware reflects the white without being too flashy.
Ideas for White Christmas Centrepieces
Think inside the box….the cake box that is! White frosted cupcakes make a show stopping centrepiece and doubles as a delicious dessert! Inexpensive cupcake cups were found at Home Sense, and are compostable too!
Course sugar and little white edible pearls are super inexpensive from our local bulk food store.
Simple white Poinsettias would make beautiful centrepieces. They tend to be a more creamy shade of white, so keep that in mind.
For a more cool white centrepiece, try a bowl of paperwhites or white amaryllis flowers.
A big silver bowl filled with White Christmas ornaments of different sizes and textures would be stunning too.
Couldn’t resist taking loads of photos of this table decor! I was so pleasantly surprised how warm and cozy it looks. Hope you will indulge me as I share a few more!
I hope I have convinced you that white need not be stark and cold when it comes to a White Christmas tablescape! I think I say this every time I style a table, but this is one of my favourites so far!!

I love the soft faux fur rug, it makes all the white feel instantly cozy! Your crystal stemware sparkles amidst the white and the combination of textures is magical! I hope you have a very Merry holiday Maureen!
Beautiful table Maureen. I love the white and silver. Those plates are so pretty. The wood cake stand looks so lovely with the cupcakes. A special gift from your daughter makes it special. A white tablescape is gorgeous. You have created something so beautiful for Christmas. Have a Merry Christmas.
Maureen, I think your white Christmas tablescape is absolutely stunning! First thing that grabs me though is the dramatic pop of red from the ornament balls on the plate stack — wow! Lots of great tips; I made a mental note about mixing different tones in particular. Your plates are gorgeous, and love how you carried off a festive holiday table with no theme tableware. Genius my friend. Delighted to have you and your creative talent join us again.
Maureen, I think you accomplished your warm and cozy goal! Your white tablescape has both an elegant and cozy feel. I love the simplicity and mixture of textures.
Your commentary is beautifully written. You do a great job explaining what works well and why you did certain things.
Those cupcakes look delicious and beautiful. I would love one or two!
Enjoyable post.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Maureen, your white Christmas table is beautiful!!! You did a fabulous job of bringing in different textures with the fur, the branches and the beaded edged plates. Your cupcakes look scrumptious!!
Such a classy table!!
Wintry white tables are so pretty! They remind me of pristine snow when the world quietly glistens. You’ve used lovely details throughout — not sure I could pick a favorite! Merry Christmas!
Maureen, I am in total agreement with you that all white can be warm! You accomplished and hit every high note for a successful white table. The fur rug is the perfect warm and cozy foundation and oh those beautiful cupcakes look amazing. Thanks for sharing the process of creating a lovely white tablescape with that little punch of red. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season ♥️
Maureen, you’ve just proven that an all [mostly] white tablescape can be anything besides bland. Your points on warm vs cool whites is well taken, and your tablescape turned out to be exactly as you hoped – warm and inviting. I really love whites in any season on a table, and I’ve used my white dishes many, many times over. Your cupcakes on the wooden stand and red orbs give the table just enough oomph to raise the glance across the table and the overall appeal. I love the little green sprigs on the table and your tree in your dining area background, too.
Thanks for participating in this blog hop and bringing your “shop the house first” attitude to tablescaping, showing it can be done without a lot of purchasing of new things. Merry Christmas season, Maureen!
Very dreamy and elegant! The fur adds so much warmth and texture to the table and the pop of red is just enough to convey the theme. I hope all is well and that you have a blessed Christmas holiday. It’s always a joy to blog hop with you!
All white never looked so good Maureen! Your styling and photography are both beautiful and I adore the fluted edges of your dinnerware. The pop of red from your ornaments is so dramatic and yet so simple and for some reason I’m craving cupcakes.. 🙂 As always it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Wishing you a Merry December and very Merry Christmas! ♥
Maureen, your table is beautiful in its white color palette. It looks so elegant, and you have used lots of wonderful texture to create interest. Those cupcakes make a wonderful centerpiece and look most scrumptious. Merry Christmas!
Maureen, your tablescape is absolutely gorgeous. I would not have thought of all white but it is so stunning ~ like a winter wonderland. The bit of greenery and the cake stand does provide a touch of soft color. Pinned for next year’s inspiration. Merry Christmas.
Maureen, your winter white table is so elegant and cozy! I love the texture from the fur runner. The cake stand full of white cupcakes makes an attractive and tempting centerpiece. The red ornaments at each place setting provide the perfect pop of color. I need to take your advice and invest in some white plates. I love the ones you have with scalloped edges and beaded trim. They are classic and lovely! It’s always fun hopping with you. Merry Christmas!
Your white tablescape is so elegant, and I love your pretty cupcake wrappers! Merry Christmas!
